Rim width changes the installed tire shape. A wider internal rim can support the casing and alter the measured width, shoulder profile and clearance compared with the same tire on a narrower rim. Do not treat a 30mm internal rim as proof that every 2.4 tire is suitable. Check the rim maker's approved range, the tire maker's rim guidance and the bike maker's maximum tire and mud clearance.
Is a 2.4 Tire Suitable on a 30mm Internal Rim?
It may be, but compatibility depends on the exact tire casing, rim profile, pressure, frame and riding conditions. Install the Wheelset in a Controlled Order
